Suitable even for the student budget

It is always nice to remember all those carefree student days when I was studying at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG), especially now, at the late adolescent age, when you feel like you have to do something with your life. Back then, my friends and I did not really see them as such, but today when I look back at the days when my only concern was university assignments, ok yes, exams, and where I would go out that night, I do miss it. Indeed, us students were on a very tight budget, so we had to find our way and learn several tricks how to make the most out of our student days.

Blagoevgrad, the most amazing university town in Bulgaria, nearby its capital Sofia, and definitely its international gem, allows you to eat excellent food in great restaurants, and all that on a student budget? Hungry yet? I most certainly am. Allow me to take you to the journey of the Blagoevgrad’s cuisine. On today’s menu we have pizza, and not just any pizza, but definitely the best one in town that will not leave you indifferent. Keep scrolling to find out more!

At our utmost convenience, the best pizza in town is located near the old building of the American University. Sounds bad, I know, but sometimes we would even skip classes, and rush to the wonderful and warm pizzeria called Napoli. We would spend hours there, and not just because of the most delicious pizza, but because of the great, cozy, welcoming atmosphere, cheerful and friendly people and very kind staff. But ok, we also came there because of the 30 different kinds of pizza offered. If you are really not in the mood for pizza (really?) then you can pick among a great choice of pasta and salads, but I would friendly advice you that you are missing out. The best thing is to take a salad to share with friends, as portions are quite big and pick one pizza for non-sharing. I am pretty sure the salad will stay neglected, competing with all these pizzas. And you know what the best part is? The largest sized pizza, that is literally impossible to be eaten solely, is only five euros maximum! Are you already booking your tickets?

Indeed, you will be very much perplexed with all the choice of pizza offered, some of which you have not heard before. You will see pizza called Don Juan, Ring, Montanara, Flower and many other. However, the one that you simply must try is Alf pizza, named in the honor of our beloved university professor, Alf Eastergard. He was respected not just among us students and his colleagues, but also as a guest of Napoli pizzeria. Professor Eastergard used to come there every day, after tiring accounting lectures with us dummies, and he would order a specific kind of pizza, out of the menu, including mushrooms, peppers, onions, ham and cheese. Nobody could resist his charm and manners, not even the restaurant staff, who after several years decided to do the honor to this gentleman and include an official pizza in the menu, carrying his name. Today, it is a nice thing to remember our deceased professor, and all his hilarious anecdotes while having his favorite pizza, and of course, whiskey and cigarettes, in his honor. For you, it is a perfect opportunity to try the best pizza in town and eat like a king on a student budget.
