About the Silk Road Hotel

The rooms of the Silk Road Hotel are decorated with Armenian rugs and carpets. The location of the hotel is not central, but from there, you can walk to the city center in 10-15 minutes. The atmosphere is very Armenian, and all around you can find traditional hand-made items. I have to say that the rooms look like they were in old Armenian houses, though they are renovated, and modern facilities are placed in each guest-room.

Restaurant

There is a small restaurant in the hotel as well. The menu is very delicious and unique. Traditional food and desserts are offered to the hotel guests as well as to those who just want to have lunch or dinner here. One of the healing drinks offered by the restaurant is very old, the recipe of which is taken from the ancient manuscripts kept in the Matenadaran (a repository of ancient manuscripts), that is, by the way, a must-see site in Armenia.

Other things to do in the hotel

The hotel has a gift shop where you can buy traditional hand-made souvenirs, rugs, carpets, wines, local natural cosmetics, jewelry and clothing that you may wish to take to your country as a gift or for yourself.

From time to time, there are organized carpet waving classes, which are interesting to attend. There, they also wave carpets from silk (which is not common in Armenia).

There is also a special corner where is placed “tonir”, where traditional Armenian bread lavash is baked. Here, you can wrap home-made cheese or something else in lavash and taste a newly baked bread. It is a very interesting process, and around tonir, you can organize small gatherings and events with your friends.
