Top 10 lakes in Georgia that you have to see

As you already know, Georgia is famous for its beautiful nature. In this article, I am going to tell you about the most beautiful lakes that you can visit here.

Let’s start with Koruldi lakes – This Lake is located in Svaneti. To reach this place you need a special off-road car. The water is very cold and fresh. You will enjoy amazing panoramic views around Koruldi Lakes.

Next one is Udziro Lake –This marvellous lake is located in Racha Region. To see it, you have to organize hiking tour at least for two days. The beautiful Caucasus Mountains is reflecting on the surface of the lake.

A third one is Tabatskuri – The Lake is on the borders of Borjomi and Akhalkalaki. Despite the fact that water is quite cool, you can still swim in it. In addition, it is possible to enjoy fishing in Tabatskuri Lake and to spend nice evenings there. Around 13 types of different fishes inhabit there.

Tobavarchkhili Lake, the same as Silver Lake – located in Samegrelo Region, in the mountains of Egrisi. This lake is unique by its beauty. The best time to visit Tobavarchkhili is July when snow is finally melted and the field around it is full of colorful summer flowers.

The fifth lake is Black Cliffs Lake (Shavi Kldeebis Tba) – is on the protected area of Lagodekhi, Kakheti Region. A hiking trail that leads to the lake is very famous among tourist as this place is surrounded by the breathtaking nature.

Another lake, you would love to see is Abudelauri Lakes – that is located in Khevsureti. This is the place where you feel yourself in a totally different world. This lake is frozen for over 6 months, so the best time to visit it is probably during summertime. The walking distance until this lake is around 14 km and the road is medium difficulty.

Paravani Lake is located in the southeastern of Georgia; it is the biggest lake in Georgia. Paravani Lake is rich with fish, so it is one of the best places for fishing in Georgia. You will also see lovely, small villages around the lake.

Lake Paliastomi is between Guria and Samegrelo Regions. You can have an interesting boat trip on this lake and enjoy the nature around. There is also a tower from where you can observe different kinds of birds.

If you travel to Georgia during autumn, don’t miss Bateti Lake – it is extremely beautiful in autumn and you only need around 2 hours drive from Tbilisi. As the road is easy, this place is very popular for hiking.

The last lake, I would like you to know about is Oreti – located in Tusheti and you can reach it by foot or by a horse. You will see a marvellous panorama of Tusheti.

Despite the fact that Georgia is a small country, there are around 860 lakes. Almost, all lakes are ecologically clean and are potential reservoirs of drinkable water. First, you can visit the lakes I have mentioned above. However, you can always explore your own lakes in Georgia. The unique lake, that will attract you and will make your time more beautiful and memorable.
