The Altes Rathaus was built on an artificial island in the Regnitz River because rumor it is, the local bishop had refused to give the town's citizens any land for its construction. This gorgeous Rathaus was built in 1462 and it is perched in the middle of a bridge above the Regnitz River. Inside of this building, you'll find the Sammlung Ludwig, a collection of precious porcelain and gorgeously decorated façade! Definitely, a must visit place! It is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List!

With its breathtakingly beautiful interior, the New Residence served as the seat of Bamberg's prince-bishops. Inside this building, you will find 40 gorgeous room with lavish furnishings and rugs from the 17th and 18th centuries. The imperial hall was painted by Melchior Steidl and definitely worth to check out. You will also find the "Old German Gallery" and the "Baroque Gallery" contain significant works of art from the Bavarian State art collections, inside of this building. After visiting there, you also have to check out the inner court of the New Residence, "The Rose Garden", to have a breathtakingly beautiful view of Bamberg.
