In every small or big city in Croatia, you have nice hotels, apartments, and rooms with WiFi, cable TV and all sorts of comfort. But for some people, it just isn’t enough. Fewer is better. Or just weirder. I would like to take you on a short journey and show you some unusual places to stay in Croatia. I’m sure you will love each one of them.

Tower Cabin

On the Hvar island, you can rent a real stone tower. Yes, you read it right! With its cylindrical shape and fabulous wooden decoration inside, it is like going back to the past century, but with all new technologies and luxury. The tower is located near the old town square, hidden from the views enough to have your peaceful heaven all for yourself. Take a look at the video below and check it for yourself.

Lighthouse on Vir island

Here in Croatia, everything is possible. For example - to rent a room in the real lighthouse. If you are visiting the Vir island, you can plan one unusual vacation in your own lighthouse. The beach around is perfect for summer chill, and the pine forest nearby is great for the walks. But, get your wallet ready, because it will be an expensive vacation. :)

Šugarska duliba

On the Velebit mountain in August 2017, a container-like shelter Šugarska duliba for hikers got its new look. It is fully renewed and now it has all: electricity, water and basic comfort that is needed. It is located in the Šugarska valley, and it's dedicated to the hikers who are going across the mountain. The creator of this place architect Ivan Juretić and its many volunteers believe this way they will save the mountain from the pollution since people will have a place to stay and rest. Additionally, you can stay overnight for longer walks. It is a place for up to 10 persons.

Sobol houses in Gorski Kotar

In the Butterfly valley in Gorski Kotar exist a few wooden little paradises - Sobol houses. If you want to spend your winter holiday in a bit different way, you should consider visiting this place. These houses are placed near the river Kupa, and nature around it is like from a fairy-tale.

Botel Marina

No, it's not a hotel, it's a botel! Hotel on a boat, or boat hotel. Either way, you are on the water. In Rijeka, you can find this very rare and not ordinary hotel - Marina Botel. It's like being on a cruise.  Here, everything is unusual, starting with its name.

Hostel Train

If you like trains, like Sheldon Cooper, I have the right thing for you. In Zagreb near the train station, there is Hostel Train where you can literally sleep in one of the wagons. It seems a little bit awkward, but awkward is the word we are looking for here, right?

Treehouse in Plitvice

Just like Tarzan but a bit more comfortable, the Tree-house in Plitvice National Park will be a whole new experience. Plitvice is one of the main symbols of Croatian natural wanders, and you can stay in the heart of this magical place. As I wrote before, nature made its best here, and this a must-see when visiting Croatia.
