You have probably heard of the snowy Lapland far North. Up there, behind the arctic circle lives Santa Claus. Since it is Santa's home, you can find him anytime, working on all the letters and gifts, of course, with the company of his helpful elves. So, how do you get there?

Getting there

First of all, Santa Claus' Village is situated in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland. The city has an airport, a train station, and a bus station, so there are multiple ways to get there. The Santa Claus Village is just 8 km from the city center of Rovaniemi, so it is easily reachable by public transport (try the bus number 8), car, or even on foot, if you are really into walking.

Meet Santa Claus

Arriving at Santa Village is like visiting a fairytale, especially in winter. When it is dark, thousands of small lights are glittering around, leading you to Lappish handicraft stores and traditional restaurants, and of course, to the reindeer farm and Mrs.Santa's cottage. There you can find Mrs. Santa making gingerbread, telling stories, and sharing recipes.

I am sure Santa Claus himself is a person you want to see the most, and the easiest way to find him is to go to his office. There he is, spreading love and kindness through his gifts and reading Christmas letters. No wonder why he is in his department all year round: Santa receives half a million letters each year from all over the globe! So don't get surprised when meeting elves in the Santa Village, since there is no way Santa Claus could manage all the work without his loyal helpers. The way to Santa's office is the most fairytale-like experience! You will see colorful corridors, lots of gifts and letters all around and also the coolest thing in the village: the Earth’s Rotational Speed Regulator! Now that's a place to forget the science and start believing in miracles. In the end, you will reach the Santa himself: now think, is there anything you wanted to ask Santa if you would ever meet the real one? Now it is your chance! Gather the thoughts together and stay calm. Nothing should be stressful; you are just meeting the kindest person in the world, the beholder of magic, who just happened to control the Earth rotation. I am sure there is nothing better you could do this evening.

How to receive mail from Santa Claus

If you want to share your magical experience in Santa Village with your friends, you can do that in Santa's Main Post Office. Come into the cozy atmosphere and send a postcard (and why not a souvenir?) to your beloved ones: your mail will get a unique arctic circle stamp and will be delivered at Christmas. Isn't that handy? You can take care of your Christmas mail even in summer. There is also one secret I want to tell you; everyone thinks it is a habit to send letters to Santa Claus, but how would it feel to get a postcard from him himself? Probably it would be the dearest postcard any child could get! You can order a card from Santa Claus in this Post Office; feel free to ask the helpful elves for more information.

You can visit the Santa Claus Village at any time of the year and even on a budget. It is not required to have a full wallet to meet Santa Claus, but taking a picture will cost you money. You can take a half-day adventure to meet Santa and his Mrs or spend a whole day there since there are winter activities and excellent restaurants around the village. You can even stay for a night in one of the hotels nearby. In any case, don't forget to visit the post office to share the Christmas magic with anyone you miss. And, of course, have a magical time!
