We talked a lot about cultural places, museums, galleries, sites and spots for drinks & food in Armenia, and this time I have decided to tell you about the Yerevan Zoo & Exotariums. Those are the places that are fun for everyone regardless of age and gender.

Yerevan Zoo

Yerevan Zoo occupies a huge area of around 35 hectares. This Zoological Garden has always been a much-liked place for kids and why not also adults. The zoo was founded in 1946. It is a good place to spend some time. What is the most fun thing here, it is that you can buy food and feed the animals. Some animals are trained, and after getting the food, they will also express their gratitude to you. How? You will know when you get there.

At the zoo, you can see not only the mammals brought here from different corners of the world, (including water animals) but also different sorts of birds and reptiles. Each year, the improvements are made by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets and by the Yerevan Municipality to make the conditions here better. The zoo is clean, and there are trees all around.  Compared to the entrance fees of the zoos in other European countries, here it is very cheap - from two to six euros, depending on whether you are alone or with a kid.

It is really fun to visit the zoo, and I recommend to do it if you are here when the weather is more or less good, because it is up to animals to sit inside the building or outside, and in winters, they are almost always inside.

Zoolandia Armenia

Besides the zoo, there are also other places where you can see the mammals, birds, and reptiles. One of them is the Zoolandia Armenia Exotarium located in the building of the Rio Mall. The prices vary from one to two euros. The fun thing is that you can hold those unique birds and reptiles and take pictures with them.  Compared to the Yerevan zoo, it’s a really small thing but still interesting to stop by.

Exotarium Amazon

Another small Exotarium called Amazon is located in the Yerevan Mall shopping center, on the third floor. It is open from 10 am to 10 pm. Here, you may find an exclusive collection of reptiles and birds. When you want to take a break from shopping, it is a good idea to stop by, especially when the entrance fee is not more than two euros.
