Looking for a new adventure, full of adrenaline? Does jumping down waterfalls, swimming through a meter wide narrows, climbing steep cliffs and passing under huge boulders sound appealing to you? Then welcome to Europe's last conquered canyon– Canyon Nevidio!

If I have to select just one experience to recommend to somebody or to do it once more myself, without much thinking I would definitely choose the unforgettable adventure of passing through this spectacular canyon!

Nevidio is located in the central part of Montenegro, just an hour drive from Niksic. It was formed thousands of years ago on the slopes of mountain Durmitor and is hollowed out by the river Komarnica. Its name Nevidio (Never seen/Unseen) or Nevidjbog (Never seen by God) got from the locals as the river suddenly disappears into a uniquely carved entrance of the canyon and becomes invisible to the human eye. By 1965 it was impassable and today in order to go through the canyon you have to be physically strong and in small groups led by a fully equipped and experienced guides.

Nevidio is three kilometers long and pervious only during summertime when the water level is low. Its cliffs rise to 400 meters height and in some parts narrow to a half meter so that sky becomes just a thin line above your head.

From the start, when you get to feel icy cold water on your feet while wading, Nevidio guarantees a real adrenaline rush. It doesn’t take long to the first waterfalls, foaming rapids and deep pools when begins jumping off cliffs and sliding down several meters high banks.

Adventure takes at least 3 hours and from the exit of the canyon there are 40 more minutes walking back to the place from where the group had started. After that, a traditional Montenegrin lunch in one of the ethno villages close by is a must!

So one thing is sure, this is experience that leaves you breathless; the excitement that you will remember… probably forever. And something you would absolutely want to do once again.

To book your tour I recommend you to contact Montenegro-canyoning as they take care that each member of the group feels safe and fully enjoys the experience.
