Chandigarh

Located at the foothills of the Himalayas, Chandigarh Region is the newest area in India. Situated on the north of India, Chandigarh is the capital city of two states – Punjab and Haryana, and the union territory itself administered by the central government....

Constructed in the 1950s at the foot of the Shivalik hills, Chandigarh was India’s first planned city. Behind the splendid construction of “The City of Sun, Space and Verdure” is a famous Swiss-French architect – Le Corbusier. Seventy years after, it is a real face of modern India – vibrant, thriving, and pedestrian-friendly city. Named after the Goddess Chandi, Chandigarh is a great destination to discover on the north of India. Quite different from the rest of the country, this urban oasis showcases how modernization and nature can coexist. Consequently, officially the cleanest and safest place in India is also considered to be the best to live in. The main attractions of “The City Beautiful” are Nek Chand Rock Garden and Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, as well as the tranquil Sukhna Lake and its hill stations Kasauli, Solan and Shimla.
