Belarus


Belarus is a landlocked country located in eastern Europe. It is surrounded by Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia....

The capital and largest city is Minsk, which is centrally located in the country along the Svislač and the Nyamiha rivers. Minsk is the cultural capital of the country, and has many theaters, cinemas and museums to visit. The city of Brest, located near the Polish border, has seen the influence of many different cultures and countries throughout history, which is evident in its architecture. In the western-central portion of the country in the town of Mir is the Mir Castle Complex, a UNESCO world heritage site. Nearby is another UNESCO site, the Nesvizh Castle. Both sites are examples of well preserved castles and are popular places to visit. If you’re looking for nature to explore, the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park is the place to go. The park is part of the larger Białowieża Forest which covers over 3,000 square kilometers of primeval forest in both Belarus and Poland.
