The vast area of Uttar Pradesh is among the most popular parts of India. Know as the “Heartland of India”, it attracts visitors due to its historical and religious heritage. Remnants of a once-powerful Mughal empire are present in the form of three World Heritage Sites in the city of Agra – Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. The holiest city of Hinduism and one of the oldest places in the world, Varanasi, is also situated here. Not far from this spiritual capital of India, one can find the historical towns of Sarnath and Kushinagar, two places where Gautama Buddha gave his first sermon and died respectively. For a truly unique experience, take a dip at the holy confluence of two rivers – Ganda and Yamuna at Allahabad. Here, every 12th year, Kumbh Meka Festival takes place gathering over 12 million Hindu pilgrims and making it largest gathering of worshipers in the world.
