Hotel Peñalba

The Picos de Europa welcome in its natural setting this small hotel inside a restored Asturian house retaining its charm and original structure, obtaining the award for the best house restored in Asturias in 1989 and being the first hotel of its kind, both in the area as in the Principality of Asturias, of a private nature.

Since then we have been committed to quality and style within the Asturian countryside. He was part of the birth of the Casonas Asturianas Quality Club to which he belonged for a time.

 The house, emblazoned (family shield), has undergone several transformations throughout its history. The first data we have date from the sixteenth century, being a tower, in which lived a charge of the Royal Site of Covadonga whose "title" always transmitted to a nephew, until in the eighteenth century, there were no male nephews, The niece gets married and begins to expand the tower in a house. It has a chapel where the altar presides San Pedro El Regalado.

 In the 50s it served as the stage for what would be one of the first "soap operas" of the time, with the Cantabrian writer Dña. Concha Espina who chose the house for the novel "Altar Mayor".

The area where HOTEL PEÑALBA is located, is in the access to Covadonga and main entrance of the Picos de Europa National Park. The Enol and Ercina lakes are a "must" visit in the wide environment of Nature that surrounds us. Close to the Asturian coast so different in every moment and season. Not only for its beaches ... .. the routes on the edge of the Bay of Biscay are spectacular!  As for the Asturian gastronomy in this area, a wide offer will leave you satisfied. Urban routes from the most important cities of Asturias to those of Cantabria, just an hour away by car.  Unique prehistoric caves, interpretation centers, sightings of birds and other native animals .... Descensos del río Sella, horseback riding, quads, among others, are activities that can be organized from the hotel. Work meetings, family parties, groups in low season.

 Something very important to note is that it is a very SAFE area.

 The hotel has a meeting room with capacity for 16-18 people.�From 5 rooms, the hotel is closed for the exclusive use of the group. Possibility of organizing any sports activity with tourism companies in the NW sector.

It is a luxury hotel, where you can "BE LUXURY". We are a family that we try to make of the vacation days of those who visit us, some wonderful days that remain in our memory with good memories. Something like going to a grandmother's house and having the feeling of being pampered. We like to spoil. It is not a place for everyone, so we try to explain and tell "almost everything" but not everything: you have to live the experience.

Stone and wood make cozy spaces and especially in environments like this. We must bear in mind that, sometimes, it is also like in a family and some of us leave "noisy". We do not understand the conversations, much less, we have doubled to make it so.
