A 1930s non-religious clock tower built as a 'monument to the workers' in the traditionally working-class neighbourhood of Las Casas Baratas. Its original purpose was to give local people a way of knowing the time as many of those who lived in the community did not own watches or have clocks at home. It has now, unfortunately, become a mast for mobile aerials although a proposal has been made to remove them as the tower is a site of cultural interest.
