Musee Larrey Beaudean

A legendary surgeon

Located in the heart of the village of Beaudéan, Larrey Museum has awarded the "Illustrious House" in 2014, offers an evocation of the life of one of the most famous son of Bigorre.

Famous surgeon of Napoleon's armies, Baron Larrey distinguished himself on all battlefields. Animated by a true visionary, he was the creator of "flying ambulances" and the precursor of humanitarian medicine, nursing the wounded regardless of their nationality.

A spectacular audiovisual animation

The fabulous epic of this humanist made Baron of the Empire by Napoleon traced in sound, video and light. Slide shows, touch screens, games (for large and small) will also lead you through a virtual tour of the village at the time of Dominique Larrey and initiate you to the history of the Lordship of Beaudéan (daily life, dress etc ...) .You also discover the man in his family intimacy through his letters saying by a local storyteller.

A temporary exhibition hall

All year are organized exhibitions of painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography ...

One meeting  Multicultural Room Larrey, home today to some disposals, the University of the Third Age of Tarbes and Bigorre with which the museum has an agreement. It is an ideal venue for associations or professionals who wish to organize their work sessions in a natural environment, close to the Pyrenees. The proximity of the Pic du Midi and the mythical Tourmalet pass is everything. Opening :

• June 1 to July 14 and from August 15 to September 30: Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 13h to 18h
• From 14 July to 15 August: every afternoon except Tuesday, from 14h to 18h
• From 1 November to 31 May: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 13h to 18h
