Museo del Cenedese

The Museum is housed in the Loggia of Serravalle Community, an elegant example of Venetian mainland architecture, built between 1462 and 1476 by Podesta Gabriele and Domenico Venier, probably over a previous fourteenth-century building. Recent renovations have made it possible to rediscover, on the façade of the adjacent bell tower (sec. XIV), a watch dial which should be counted among the oldest in Italy and Europe and of which had been lost since the news from 1487 , when you sopraelevò the bell tower, on which you installed a new dial. These renovations have also brought to light the frescoes that extend over the entire façade of the palace of Darius operates from Treviso (sec. XV) and his School. The museum, which opened Nov. 2, 1938, was so named after its founder, Ing. Francis Troyer (1863-1936), because they intended to collect and enhance archaeological memories, history and art of the ancient territory "Cenedese": nestled between the Piave and Livenza, from Belluno Valley to the sea, which coincides with the northern half of the ancient Diocese of Ceneda (713), then Vittorio Veneto.
