PINE POINT BED AND BREAKFAST PIne Point Is a sixties house with genuine wow factor. Set above Ventnor, it has sea views from every room, and provides the highest standard of B & B accommodation in a laid back ‘boutique’ style. It appeals to those who appreciate thoughtfully styled surroundings and outstanding attention to detail.

Pine Point is a fabulous architect designed sixties house with amazing sea views. It retains many original features such as the beautiful hardwood flooring and spiral staircase. The style and hospitality, however, are a far cry from what you might have expected in a sixties bed and breakfast. Think relaxed boutique guesthouse rather than traditional seaside landlady.

Our bed linen is pure cotton, our orange juice is freshly squeezed and our hot water continuous.

The sun deck is the focal point of Pine Point. Breakfast, coffee and drinks can be enjoyed here whilst taking in the spectacular views. In fact, all the rooms (except the bathrooms!), have sea views.

The House is furnished in a laid back mix of vintage finds and quirky contemporary design. On the ground floor there are two spacious guest rooms, each with en suite bathrooms containing baths and separate showers.

A spiral staircase leads from the hall to a two bedroomed suite which is the whole of the first floor.

The Grey Room is a double room with sliding glass doors to the garden.

The Green Room has a double and single bed, (making it usable as a twin or a family room) and triple aspect windows.

The Suite has a double room and a twin room that share an en suite bathroom and small sitting area. The suite is not suitable for children under eight because of the staircase. Each room/suite has a TV, DVD, hot drinks, mineral water, biscuits, fresh fruit and access to a fridge.

Facilities at Pine Point include WIFI and ample free off-street parking. A travel cot, high chair, iron & hair dryer are all available for guest use, as is a library, collection of DVDs and board games (including, of course, Isle of Wight Monopoly). Local maps and information are also on hand – as is local knowledge!

Breakfast is buffet style and includes hot rolls/croissants, toast, conserves, cheeses, free range eggs, cereals, yoghurts and seasonal fruits such as strawberries and blackberries from the summer garden or homemade compote in the winter.

Ventnor is one of the best places to visit on the Isle of Wight and certainly the best place to eat with Cantina, Tramezzini, the Ale & Oyster, The Royal Hotel, The Hillside Hotel and not forgetting the Crab Shed in Steephill Cove all offering excellent food.

OCEAN VIEW - Self Catering Is a pretty home from home in Ventnor for those who want to cater for themselves. With its sunlit simplicity and stunning sea views, the cottage serves equally well as a romantic hideaway or as a base for full-on bucket and spade holidays.

Ocean View is a Victorian terraced cottage which looks down over Ventnor Bay with living room, master bedroom and terrace all having fabulous sea views.

The beach is a few minutes away, as the crow flies, but with a zigzag route downhill, allow for a fifteen minute walk.

If you prefer to drive, (avoiding the uphill walk home after a hard day on the beach), there are car parks either end of the Esplanade. Parking at the cottage is free and on-street, a few hundred yards along Ocean View Road.

The Town Centre with its shops, (including butcher, baker, greengrocer, wine merchant and fishery for those who want a break from supermarket shopping!), pubs, cafes and restaurants is halfway between the cottage and the beach.

The Cottage accommodates six people comfortably with it’s three bedrooms, large family bathroom and downstairs cloakroom. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, (one with a TV), and a bathroom which has bath, separate shower, washing machine, tumble dryer and boiler which provides instantaneous hot water and keeps the cottage lovely and toasty during the winter months. Downstairs the kitchen, with a table which seats six, leads to the living room with comfy sofas. Here you’ll find the TV with DVD player, books and games.

The third (bunk) bedroom is also on the ground floor, as is the WC with wash basin. Outdoors there is a small but perfectly formed gravelled terrace with table and seating for maximum enjoyment of the view.

It’s enclosed with a picket fence making it safe for young children and pets.

The Style of the interior is ‘shabby chic’ with white wooden floors and cream leather sofas.

Although there’s a cosy vintage vibe, we don’t subscribe to the old holiday cottage ethos of equipping the place with kit long passed its prime and leaving cobwebs to ‘add to the charm’.

At Ocean View you’ll (hopefully) find everything you’d expect at home from cafetiere to steam iron, all scrupulously clean and well maintained.

There’s also a travel cot and high chair to cater for the smaller guest.
