Real Club Marítimo del Abra - Real Sporting Club

In the late 60s, you start to talk about a possible between Real Club Marítimo del Abra and the Real Sporting Club, not only because they shared the same interests in sport, but a large part of the social mass. These discussions have just forged in 1972, when the merger is consummated with the condition of respecting the name of the two clubs and use both grimpolones such as we see today.

On November 26, 1973, the monumental and emblematic social building was completely destroyed by a fire caused by a terrorist act. The club lost the building and its contents paintings, trophies and souvenirs. The thrust of the partners, directors and presidents of those moments, managed to push through the construction of the winning project, designed by the architects Eugenio Aguinaga and Iñigo Eulate. After some difficulties, could finally realize the construction of the current building solid and elegant at the same place where stood the old.
