Short cultural historical outline of the Shrine of Our Lady of the Oak

Tucked into the setting of the Gulf of Diano Marina in western Liguria, it stands the ancient and characteristic medieval village of Rovere, in that of San Bartolomeo al Mare. Built in 1300, on the Via della Costa of the Via Francigena on the ancient Camino de Santiago Santiago de Compostela-Rome axis, was the destination of pilgrimages of the faithful since ancient times, so much so that there are a testimony of the Romanesque remains of "Roman mansio" ie a place for the rest of the troops and horses dating back to the III-IV century AD, not far from the Sanctuary itself.
