Araucanía

Situated in the central part of Chile, the region of Araucanía is known for its stunning and still somehow genuine natural beauty that many consider a true mind-regenerator....

Unfortunately, the beauty of this land is often attached to an interesting yet sad history of violence towards the Mapuche people, the indigenous people of the area that survived both the Inca and the Spanish empires. The Araucanía region is home to one of the largest communities of indigenous people in the whole South America and many conflicts related to a land acquisition between them, and the Chilean government are still an open wound, and they continue happening. Once known as the ‘granary of Chile’, this region preserves a real and true own identity that is still very present thanks to the many traditions that the Mapuche people kept and still share, such as their delicious cuisine and the unconditional love for their ever-giving nature.
