Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica

Covering Chile’s most southern territory as well as part of Antarctica, the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica region is one of the most visited destinations by adventure seekers and nature lovers....

Without doubt, this region is among the most inhospitable areas on the planet: cold winds, strong oceanic currents, and freezing temperatures throughout most of the year do not even allow forests and many floral species to flourish. But these natural extremes also translate into breath-taking steep, rocky mountains, beautiful blue glaciers, crystal waters and green, wind-swept plains. Most of the region’s population is concentrated in Punta Arenas while the rest of the region’s inhabitants are mostly sheep and cattle. The Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica region still preserves some of the world’s best kept spots and natural wonders, reasons why many tourists visit it and never forget it.
