Besides Romanians (57.5% of the population), Satu Mare is known to host a significant ethnic minority of Hungarians (34.5%). Its North is bordered by the Oaș Mountains and multiple rivers cross the county (the Someș, Tur and Crasna rivers). Its main tourist attractions are: the ethnographic and historical region of Oaș (where you can still witness centuries old Romanian folk traditions), the Oaș Mountains, the cities of Satu Mare and Carei, the Tășnad spa resorts and the fortifications from Ardud and Medieșu Aurit.
