Benaki Summer Festival

A new exciting artistic happening, which will convert to three weeks the atrium of the Benaki Museum Pireos-138 in an atmospheric open-air cinema and parallel to a comfortable and enjoyable venue.

The SUMMER FESTIVAL IN Benaki Museum will highlight the most interesting documentaries, and great movies that have won international awards, and move around the fields of art, fashion, music, theater and gastronomy. As part of the festival, between 16 views have been secured and 12 premieres for Greece, which include:

• the gala-concert of Anna Netrebko and DMITRI HVOROSTOVSKY, in a live broadcast from Moscow's Red Square,
• a unique cinematic virtual visit to sold out exhibition «THE EXHIBITION - MUNCH 150», dedicated to the famous painter, presented this season in the National Museum in Oslo Munch Museum,
• the award winning Stratford Festival theater production "THE TEMPEST», starring Christopher Plummer,
• revealing documentary «WE STEAL SECRETS-THE WIKILEAKS STORY», which refers to the action, objectives, principles and methods of Wikileaks. The screening of the documentary will be followed by discussion with famous writers, politicians and journalists,
• the new documentary «BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & I», which shows the artist, his music, live performances and his fans. The documentary, which is a production-winning Ridley Scott Oscar (Thelma & Louise, Gladiator) will only display the night of 22 July in over 300 movie theaters around the world and in Greece only in the framework of the summer festival IN Benaki Museum.

Every Saturday but the same atrium of the Benaki Museum will be transformed into a vibrant and unique venue with live performances of Mariza Rizos (and nine-band), The Burger Project and Kosti Maraveyas (Maraveyas Ilegal), which are designed specifically for SUMMER FESTIVAL IN Benaki Museum.

In the area of ​​the festival, the audience will first enjoy a complimentary drink and then follow the views of the comfortable tables, which have been placed specifically in the area of ​​the atrium, accompanied by cool cocktail and delicious dishes, snacks and desserts from Greek quality brands such as ice cream KAYAK.

Moreover, the event only a limited number of VIP Love Couches two people.

Before and after each show, the DJ's of PEPPER 96.6 will create their music with an ambient environment, turning nights at the Festival a complete exit.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++  A new and exciting three week cultural event sees the atrium of the Benaki Museum - 138 Pireos transformed into an atmospheric and classy open air cinema and concert venue, lit by award winning Greek lighting designer Alekos Yiannaros.

The BENAKI SUMMER FESTIVAL presents screenings of award winning documentaries and films showcasing the best the world has to offer in art, fashion, music, theatre and food. Of the 16 festival screenings we have been able to secure 12 Greek premieres, which include:

• a gala concert of ANNA NETREBKO and DMITRI HVOROSTOVSKY live from the Red Square in Moscow;
• "THE EXHIBITION - MUNCH 150" a cinematic and unique virtual visit to the sold out exhibition celebrating the painter Munch currently on at the Munch museum in Oslo;
• the award winning Stratford Festival production of "THE TEMPEST" starring Christopher Plummer;
• "WE STEAL SECRETS-THE WIKILEAKS STORY", an all access behind the scenes look within the Wikileaks operation, showcasing their goals, their ethics and methods. Followed by an on stage debate with writers, politicians and journalists.
• "BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & I", a new documentary film about The Boss, his music, his live performances and his fans produced by Oscar nominated Riddley Scott (Thelma & Louise, Gladiator). This documentary is screened for one night only on the 22nd of July at about 300 cinemas worldwide and in Greece exclusively at the BENAKI SUMMER FESTIVAL.

Each Saturday the Benaki atrium is turned into an all standing concert venue with live performances by Greek bands like Mariza Rizou (and a 9 piece band), The Burger Project and Kostis Maravejas (Maraveyas Illegal), specially and exclusively devised for the BENAKI SUMMER FESTIVAL .

Festival audiences, who all receive a free welcome drink, will be able to enjoy the screenings in comfort at table seating while sipping a cocktail or enjoying food fresh, snacks and desserts supplied by quality (Greek) brands like KAYAK.

The BENAKI SUMMER FESTIVAL also offers a select number of exclusive VIP Love Couches for two.

Every night before and after the screenings the DJ's of PEPPER 96.6 will create a relaxed lounge atmosphere, making a night at the festival a full night out.
