Centro de Interpretação da História Militar de Ponte de Lima

Set up in the imposing building known as the Paço do Marquês, built in the second half of the 15th century as the residence of the mayor Leonel de Lima, the Interpretation Center for Military History of Ponte de Lima is a protocol established between the Portuguese Army and The Municipality of Ponte de Lima in 2011.

The Center highlights the importance of the geostrategic location of Ponte de Lima, assumed since the Roman period, and narrates, in an approach over time, the main military episodes that have taken place in this historic town and surrounding territory. At the same time, the evolution of armaments and uniforms is drawn. Natural military figures from Ponte de Lima are also evoked, or they have had strong links with this milieu, but have distinguished themselves in other war scenarios and in high military and diplomatic functions in the global context of the History of Portugal.
