Located in Avenida 5 de Outubro, this cosy 200-seat cinema opened in October 1975, with the film 'Allonsanfan / Que Viva a Revolução'. In 1983, it hosted the popular radio program 'A Febre de Sábado de Manhã', by Júlio Isidro, responsible for bringing many international bands to Portugal for the first time. In the late XXth century, Nimas started screening european films, and has since then gradually become an important (even if discreet) cinema house in Lisboa, with an alternative taste and great quality. Over time, it evolved to what is nowadays the Espaço Nimas, under Medeia Filmes, with a program of premieres, reposition of cinema classics and special cicles, focused on independent european cinema, be it acclaimed or cult films. There is also a DVD booth and a small cafeteria.
