DISCOTECA TUNEL

In Cape Cap i Corb located south of Alcossebre and belonging to the municipality of Alcala de Chivert, stands an old port warehouse of the XVIII next to the sea. Its present exterior appearance is that of an ocher-colored fortress with strong exterior buttresses and two main naves next to the patio, which are totally of origin as well as the great access gate to the whole building.

The upper part was built on a third nave of simpler construction, with multiple stone arches and cane and mud roofs.

  

Its original reconstruction was impossible, so in 1971 it was decided to flatten the upper parts and make the current constructions as a terrace-bar with magnificent sea views and being able to see from the same nearby towns as Oropesa and Peñiscola all decorated within a medieval and rustic setting.

The lower nave, of stone and 40 m in length, are perfectly preserved and are communicated in the central part by means of a 1 m opening that allows to appreciate the thickness of the walls. It also preserves a gate whose inscription refers to the age of the set and indicates who ordered it to build.

  

The whole warehouse covers 500 m2 and is unique throughout the Spanish coast, this used to store various food products such as carob, salt or oil.

This civil work has resisted the centuries, in part, thanks

to the abandonment of the small port of Cap i Corb, which prevented their destruction anthropically, as would happen in other more developed ports where ships were built more profitable (in terms of materials and labor).

  

On the ground floor you will find the TUNEL nightclub.

In 1985 the building is protected with a 100 m long breakwater to prevent the erosion of the waves, it exposes one of the old moorings that the sea made disappear next to the whole port and that at the moment is located in front of the gate main input.
