An old high-ceilinged house in the center of Athens was renovated, acquired aesthetic with arty elements and the monk was born. A wine bar definitely different from everything else.

Just a strait under Agia Irini Square, at Monk Grapes and Spirits, dominates with a long, long bar filled with holy grapes and sin spirits, while its hall is full of stands and high cork stools. On the private balcony there is a restaurant with table-chairs where you can enjoy a complete meal or dinner. The decoration is simple but carefully decorated with beautiful details while the right lighting along with the many candles help the whole atmosphere. Every night at Monk there is Dj who accompanies wine choices with free style, acid jazz, bossa nova, swing, funky, soul and groovy sounds.

The Monk team stands out for its friendly mood and expertise. Among them is the distinguished sommelier Vassilis Papadopoulos, a member of the Panhellenic Union of Oenohos with more than 12 years of experience in the field. The always intimate, accessible and very communicative Vassilis is everyday there to help you discover the flavors and aromas that suits your personality and introduce you to wine in its own unique way. The wine list for Monk includes 180 different labels from 136 different wineries and a total of 16 countries (Greece | France | Italy | Spain | Portugal | Germany | Austria | Hungary | Chile | Argentina | USA | Australia New Zealand | South Africa | Uruguay | Lebanon |

Impressive is the fact that all wine list labels are served in a glass (150ml or 75ml). This is because the Monk system uses the Coravin system which can "pump" wine from a bottle, without removing cork from it. This is done through a needle that penetrates the wine capsule and cork and removes the amount of the order, adding inert gas (Argon 65), which maintains the taste and quality of the wine unaltered. In this way we do not face the well-known problem of maintenance of an open bottle and on the other hand you rarely have the opportunity to taste any wine on the list - even a very expensive one - without having to pay an entire bottle.

The 30-course Greek-Mediterranean cuisine is a great accompaniment to the wine list, while every Sunday from 11:00 awaits a Upper East Side brunch with delicious delights.

Extruding and Blind, it also has a wide range of premium distillates and a unique list of cocktails, half of which are based on wine.

On Tuesdays, the Monk hosts live shows and wine tastings, wine tasting seminars and wine dinners are held every Thursday with the honorary presence of the wine producers themselves!

The site supports from LunchBreak to corporate meetings with specially designed menu, exhibitions, book presentations and gatherings.

Booking from Sunday to Wednesday is a prudent choice while Thursday, Friday and Saturday is a must.
