It was built in 1991 thanks to the important legacy of the Cassioli family works, originally from Asciano, and reorganized in 2007 with the increase of numerous works on deposit by the Institute of Art "Duccio di Buonisegna" of Siena, the museum constitutes' unique museum of the province of Siena dedicated entirely to Sienese painting of the nineteenth century, particularly interesting with regard to the graphics section and sculpture. Next to a large group of paintings by Amos Cassioli, author of the battle scenes from the famous Sala del Risorgimento in the Public Palace in Siena, the path offers sketches and finished works of the direct protagonists of the Academy by Louis Mussini: Angelo Visconti, Cesare Maccari, Pietro Aldi and many other artists who were able to represent episodes from the ancient world and mythology but also be careful witnesses of their time.
