Located in the former palace of the Pesaro family at San Stae, designed by Baldassarre Longhena and overlooking the Grand Canal, the Museum is one of the world's most important collections of Japanese art of the Edo period. The works were collected by Prince Henry of Bourbon, Count of Bardi, during his trip around the world have been completed between 1887 and 1889. This is more than 17,000 pieces such as swords and daggers, Japanese armours, delicate and lacquers precious porcelains, with wide sections dedicated to Indonesian and Chinese.
