Museo della Scuola «Paolo e Ornella Ricca»

NATO officially only in February 2010, the School of the Museum "Paolo and Ornella Rich" of Macerata is the result of a larger project course, now started a few years ago, whose founders can be undoubtedly identified in the exhibition "Between benches and notebooks ", curated by Paolo Ricca and staged at the Ancient of Macerata Ovens from September 27 to October 27, 2007, and in the exhibition" Between the classroom. Italian school life in the nineteenth and twentieth century ", curated by Roberto Sani and staged at the former classic Civitanova Alta High School from 10 July to 6 September 2009.

Following the exhibition of 2007 and the success of its response in 2009, held in Civitanova Alta, the awareness matured within our University and the local civil and political authorities of the need to set up a permanent exhibition space within the materials of the extraordinary collection of educational materials collection with commitment and passion over the years by Paolo and Ornella Ricca, making them available to the citizens and especially the young generation.

Currently the museum is directed by Anna Ascenzi, Professor of History of Education, which is assisted by a board of directors which includes a group of professors, researchers, postdocs and PhD students of the University of Macerata: Marta Brunelli , Dorena Caroli, Gianluca Gabrielli, Juri Meda, Luca Montecchi, Elisabetta Patrizi, Luigiaurelio Pomante and Roberto Sani.

The high public spirit and the strong cultural sensitivity of the spouses Rich could achieve the extraordinary results, with the donation in 2009 to the University of Macerata of their entire collection Rich precisely in order to preserve it in a museum dedicated to the history of school.

This far-sighted gesture of generosity has given way to a virtuous mechanism of acquisitions since 2009 has enabled the Museum to get hold different ways (donation, deposit, free loan) of various book collections, documentaries and / or mixed, although qualitatively if not quantitatively similar to the original.
