Museo Nazionale dell'Antartide - Sezione di Trieste

The Trieste Section is focused on the history of exploration of the Antarctic continent and the research in geology and marine geophysics: it is here that is welcomed, material from geological and marine Italian expeditions to Antarctica.

The exhibition area of ​​the museum is divided into three main areas:

1. history of Antarctica, where you can also observe some precious original historical maps;

2. history of Antarctic exploration, with particular reference to three pioneers of one of the most rugged and difficult human achievements: Roald Amundsen, Robert Falcon Scott, Ernest Shackleton;

3. Italian expeditions, from the beginning of the '900 to more recent ones organized by the National Project of the Antarctic Research.

Interactive stations and multimedia paths allow the visitor to know every aspect of the White Continent: history, expeditions, discussions on climate and paleoclimate.
