Palazzo Borgia - Museo Diocesano

Staged in eleven rooms in chronological order, the collection features important examples of Sienese figurative, from Duccio di Boninsegna masterpieces by Pietro Lorenzetti (in particular the Madonna and Child already central compartment of the altarpiece of the church of Santi Leonardo e Cristoforo Monticchiello), Vecchietta and Signorelli; are then reported the jewelery dating from between the Two and fifteenth centuries, Flemish tapestries, illuminated manuscripts, sacred furnishings and painted wooden sculptures, among which those of Domenico di Niccolò dei Cori. undisputed masterpiece is the splendid Cope of Pius II, of English manufacture, to witness the enlightened personality of this protagonist of local and international culture history.
