Château de Selles sur Cher

Thibault the Cheater (935), count of Blois, is the origin of the first tower built on mound. 1140, Ginon Mehun built a castle. In 1212, Robert de Courtenay, prince of the house of France raises the castle ruins. Until the 17th century, illustrious families succeed. Charles VII will hold several States General. In 1604, Philippe de Bethune, brother Sully, Ambassador Henri IV moved to Selles. He built two pavilions Squares under drawings of Jacques II Androuet Hoop. It is also the origin of the "Golden Pavilions" with a rich decor. In 1719, Anne Marie Louise de Bethune, sister of the queen of Poland, will sell the castle to Pierre Cardin le Bret. In 1810, the Marquis de Bartillat conduct many transformations. In 1813 the Black Band will destroy part of the castle. In 1880, the family of the reel D'Hardemare undertake major restoration work.
