To National Theater opened in 1901 as the "Royal Theater" and worked until 1908. It remained closed until 1930 when, by presidential decree, founded the "National Theater". In English the name is Greek National Theatre. The National Theater is governed by a seven member Board of Directors and the Artistic Director. Under the supervision of the Artistic Director of the National Theater operates Drama School, housed on Pireos Street. Artistic Director of the National Theater is currently Stathis Livathinos
