Galleria Continua

Galleria Continua was founded in 1990 by Mario Cristiani, Lorenzo Fiaschi and Maurizio Rigillo with the intention, evident in the name, to give continuity to contemporary art in a landscape rich with the signs of ancient art. The gallery seeks to act a bridge between past and present, looking for connections between current Italian research and the language of the international circuit, by bringing international artists into Italy and by helping and promoting young italian artists abroad.

Galleria Continua occupies spaces of 1200 m2 in Italy, dedicated to the exchange and dialogue between the public and the artists. The artists are also invited to confront themselves through their work with the local history and places.

Galleria Continua’s centre in Beijing, a 1000 m2 space in the 798 Art District, was opened in 2005 as a result of our desire to show contemporary Western artists in an area where they were still little seen and largely unknown. Through this new channel of communication Galleria Continua has initiated a process of dialogue between East and West, bringing two different cultural and operating models – each filled with stimulating prospects – together.

In 2007, Galleria Continua embarked on a new adventure, establishing a venue for special contemporary art events in the Paris area. Occupying a former industrial site of more than 10,000 m2 situated on the banks of a river in the Parisian countryside, Galleria Continua / Le Moulin in Boissy-le-Châtel opens its doors to the public several times a year, providing a showcase for excitingly ambitious large-scale projects.

In 2015, Galleria Continua established Arte CONTINUA Habana in Aguila de Oro, a cinema theater from the ‘50s at the heart of Havana’s Chinatown.
