Λαογραφικό-Ιστορικό Μουσείο Σητείας The Folk Historical Museum of Sitia

The Folkloric - Historical Museum of Sitia was founded by the Sitia Progressive Society "Vichantzos Kornaros", in 1975. Since its establishment until now, it has been gathering, preserving and presenting to visitors all the material and intangible elements of traditional and modern folk culture from the region of Sitia. It is housed in a two-storey house of urban architecture at the end of the 19th century, on the historic Kapetan Sifis Street 26. In its thematic landscapes it hosts authentic creations of our country, utensils and tools of an all-time era, plums, handmade knitwear and costumes and represents as much it becomes more faithful old professions that are now out of the ordinary.

The Folk Historical Museum of Sitia founded by the Progressive Association of Sitia "Vitsentzos Kornaros", in 1975, is located at 26 Capetan Sifi str. (named after Captain Sifi, a historical figure of Cretan Revolution). Housed in a two-storey building of the late 19th century architecture of Crete, boasting a wide range of authentic folk creations of the area, there is something to remember. Since its inception, it has been collecting, conserving and exhibiting all tangible and intangible assets of traditional and contemporary folk culture deriving from the region of Sitia.
