The MM Gerdau - Museum of Mines and Metal, implanted in the building of the former Secretary of State for Education, houses an important collection on mining and metallurgy, documenting two of Minas Gerais' main economic activities. With a museum project by Marcello Dantas, the Museum uses, in a playful and creative way, cutting-edge technology to show the universe of rocks, the processes of transformation of minerals and their importance for human life and social, economic and cultural development .
Through technological attractions, visitors can interact with spaces created to allow intense experience of the world of minerals and metal.
The Pink Building, dating from 1897, the year of the inauguration of the capital, was fully restored and adapted with Paulo Mendes da Rocha's architectural design. It has different spaces for holding business, cultural, scientific and institutional events.
The space has incorporated the collection of the Museum of Mineralogy Djalma Guimarães and is sponsored by Gerdau.
