Museo Civico - La Città Sotterranea

The Museum of the Underground City of Chiusi, through its three interesting and special sections, it is an educational and cognitive tool of complex archaeological reality, historical and geographic of the city. The route begins through the section "The Labyrinth", which by means of panels, photos, artifacts and reconstructions, is the ideal introduction to the underground routes Orto Bishop's Palace and the Bonci Casuccini that wind below the Old Town to eight meters depth, to continue through the section of the ancient Agro manhole Production Activities, in which economic history and environment will be a happy marriage to illustrate man's complex relationship with the environmental system of the ancient river Clanis: at the end of the path visitors can admire, through a stretch of tunnels, ancient Etruscan hydraulic system, a picturesque lake is about 30 meters deep. The tour ends inside the epigraphical section that houses underground space in about 300 urns and several hundred members funeral tiles, which is one of the most important collections of the world's epigraphic heritage.
