Museo de La Carolina

Starting of the former Archaeological Museum of La Carolina, and continuing the previous path, this museum Center opened on December 21, 2011 to collect, preserve, research and transmit the Historical and Cultural Heritage and the testimony of human communities who have lived and they have left their mark on this land of Sierra Morena so united and linked to mining and Despeñaperros gorge.       An important and unique collection of all kinds of objects, with achieved museological and multimedia resources, provide insight into the physical characteristics of the territory and the peculiarities of their natural environment and landscape and make a chronological journey through its history, from the first traces human remains in the Paleolithic, until practically our days, highlighting such important stages as the Spanish-Roman mining, the New Towns and colonizing project of Carlos III, and the intense mining activity contemporary ended late last century, so present in the collective memory of its inhabitants.
