Museo "Venerando Bruno"

The "Venerando Bruno" Ethnographic Museum is located at the premises of the "Casa del Lampionaio" and in the courtyard of the "Casa Russo Giusti". The first seat of the Museum was inaugurated on September 25, 1988 and was dedicated to prof. Giuseppe Sambataro.

"A gift from everyone for a richer Museum for all"

With this sentence, the year before the inauguration of the museum, Venerando Bruno summoned his fellow citizens to contribute to the enrichment of that collection that would be part of the exhibition. The museum has arisen with the intent to preserve and protect those elements that are of cultural interest of considerable social importance. In 1994 the museum is closed due to lack of financial support from public institutions. In the following years there was no lack of attempts to revive an ethnographic museum in Belpasso, but we must wait for 2015, when the municipal administration starts a new project with the desire to restore value to the work of Venerando Bruno and confer country a higher dignity. The museum now houses a selection of the exhibits from the old collection, together with the objects granted by many villagers and those collected by Venerando Bruno from the closure of the old museum to the last days of life. The exhibition, in its modesty, aims to offer an overview of the daily life of the country of Malpasso - Belpasso. Two rooms and an external courtyard house the finds divided into sections, each of which shows a particular aspect of past life.
