Teatro del Banchéro

The Theatre of Banchero owes its name to a text in verse, written by Carlo Cagnacci in the first half of the nineteenth century, "Louis Banchero", deeply tied to the cultural roots of Taggia. The stage adaptation was staged, for the first time at the beginning of '900, directed by a young man born in Taggia, Carmine Gallone, who later became one of the fathers of world cinema. Cultural Association that since 1996 deals on different levels of the spread of theatrical culture, the Theatre of Banchero has a School of Theatre which is a research laboratory and experimental theater. It produces shows for both the Company and for Marcello Prayer (artistic director) distributing them throughout the national territory. In addition to strictly theatrical activities, it plays an intense work of cultural promotion in the area, organizing literary events, conferences, research and documentation. The Banchero Soleri is housed in the palace, in the historic center of Taggia (Imperia). The School "Propaedeutic" Theatre is the meeting place offered to people who want to get close to the theater, know its secrets, understand the mechanisms. The School of Theatre Workshop, a place for people who want to make a journey towards themselves, who want to play on a stage, is the laboratory for research and testing of the Theatre of the Banchero. They are active courses and children's permanent workshops, kids, adults, with the participation of artists and professionals in the world of national and international theater. For some years the Theatre of Banchero has created an important writing workshop that has produced five dramas for theater, four collections of short stories and three novels collective. The first of these novels, "What you are not" came out in all libraries for the publishing house Giraldi Editore of Bologna.
