Τεχνητα Βραχια Ενυδρειων -Decors De Roches Artificielles Pour Aquariums

My name is Kostas Pagomenos, I am a pictorial artist sculptor-painter, specialized in the construction and artistic applications of three dimensions, simulating the natural or artificial environment. I have exhibited in Greece and abroad. I created the majority of the decorations at the Museum of Natural History of Crete in Heraklion.   I present here a sample of my work on the polyester and composite materials that constitute the decorations of the new reservoirs of the Aquarium, as well as the artistic interventions in the Cretaquarium foyer. Sea rock decorations were constructed separately for each tank, taking into account not only the scenario but also the future population from local biodiversity. They are representative parts of the marine landscape very different from each other to avoid the repetition of structure, texture and color that would lead to discomfort and monotony.    In this construction I took light and its effect to preserve the diversity of colors with their reflections instead of a dull and boring monochrome. We also took into account the need to avoid the toxicity that would cause death in animals and plants . And last but not least, it was the need to minimize lost volumes to achieve the maximum factor, surface / volume of the aquarium. The base materials are polyester and glass fiber polyethylene and polyurethane foam (removed). They do not contain any metallic element that can induce electrolysis phenomena in sea and fresh water, nor any metal-based paint suspected of being made Toxic when dissolved in water. The colors come from local natural materials, such as soil, sand, gravel naturally colored and accumulated on the beaches, calcareous and schistose.   The firmness and longevity of the decorations as well as their representativeness are qualities obtained by the use of agglomerates of polyester and natural materials. The principle of the technique consists in the shaping of volumes, several embossments with holes, slits, caves and protrusions being exacerbated by the use of polyurethane foam, spread out on a plastic mesh panel shaped according to the functionality of the targets. When the foam hardens, the sculpture is applied according to the morphology, scenography and geology of the rocks. Then layers are laminated from vitreous to the carved foam and passed with liquid polyester to obtain a roundness of thickness of 5-10 mm and be the resistance décor. For the surface / weight ratio and efficiency / cost is satisfactory with the current context of the economic crisis. The finish designed for the texture and color of the surfaces (walls) recovered from a mixture of sand or earth and polyester coated with natural pebbles, takes into account the biological specificities of the Mediterranean epiphytes and resists very well the attack by organisms such as sea urchins. When finished, the decorations are emptied of their polyurethane foam structure and are housed in PVC prefabricated bases used in the filtration system. The result is a peel decor that the exterior surface is elegant and the interior is functional. This technique is an innovation and its application is a new form of 3D art.   The challenge of the project is to marry the aesthetic with the functional part so that the beauty of nature is manifested in all its greatness, with an artistic momentum, contributing to an effort of simplification and education, thus awakening the senses as they emerge from it Impressionism and Phobism.

ARCHITECTS FOR HYDRAULICS

For the delusional friends of the aquariums I propose a beautiful way of decorating creating a more natural environment visual and functional. It is a rock wall composition or in the middle of the tank as imagined for its aquarium.

The custom three-dimensional decoration is made according to the interior dimensions of the aquarium and a contact is made between the interested person and his or her desire to be his rock formation, type, style, color, holes or without, with caves Etc ... (see the samples). Never one decor can become a copy of the other because it does not come out of a mold. It is 100% handmade and artistic with the use of sculpture and the talent of finishing for the aesthetic result. The decor is made of fiberglass polyester mixed with other materials that make it even harder and harder, the thickness reaches about 5 to 10 millimeters. Rock formation has a large surface but a small bulb in relation to what it depicts, and it is light .. It is like a thick crust that occupies a little space inside the aquarium and which results in more water inside the tank that is good for Life of your fish. Easily applied to your aquarium, instructions will be given on whether it is wall-mounted (background at the back of the tank) unless it is a rock in the middle, just place it. (It is a pleasure to build a tall rock thin in the middle if our aquarium has 2 sides of the two large glass surfaces, it shows a different hydrotope on one side and the other. • In my turn, I draw about the decor in the aquarium and I send the design means email.
• If the customer is satisfied, we proceed to the price of the construction, and to the realization of it until the compaction is done.
• When the construction is finished and sent to the application instructions inside the tank, it must work the aquarium with the filters but without fish, only with plain water a month or so to leave that toxic in the make-up and start functioning and the decor biologically .
