Tukuma pilsētas vēstures muzejs "Pils tornis"

The museum is located in the part of the former Livonian Order Castle, which was created between 1772 and 1787, using the fragments of the former Livonian Order Castle's northeastern corner masonry and is known as the Castle Tower.

The museum's exposition, which reflects the events of the 20th century in Tukums, in the context of Latvian and European socio-political events, with particular emphasis on turning points, including forty years, which completely reorganized the usual way of life and turned the "world into the air" by changing the ethnic composition of the city population, traditions and beliefs, forcing "forget" the past. The exhibition highlights values ​​such as humanity, tolerance, mutual support and the ability to preserve their identity, sometimes without revealing it, revealing the ability of people to survive in war and occupation, when they perished or captured hundreds of people - Germans, Jews, Latvians, Russians, Poles and tukumnieki of other nationalities.

The museum also has an interactive exhibition "Letters to the Future". Visitors can take a look at the 19th Siberian letters on birch trees, which were included in the National Register of the UNESCO World Memory in 2009, using a touch-sensitive screen. The exposition presents the fate of the authors of the letters and their addressees. Many of them, as a result of their social activities, civic positions or resistance, have fallen off to the Soviet regime as undesirable, arrested and sentenced after the Second World War or sent to Siberia on 14 June 1941 or 25 March 1949.
