The Museum of the Battle of Bailen houses inside the details of a crucial milestone in the contemporary history of Spain and Europe. On July 19, 1808 saw the first defeat of the Napoleonic army in the open, in the municipality of Bailen. The French army, commanded by General Dupont encountered the opposition of the Spanish troops in Bailen, under the command of General Brown. Throughout the Museum highlights around the Battle, the socio-political situation of Spain in the early nineteenth century and the consequences it had on the environment of the Napoleonic occupation of the Iberian Peninsula are analyzed through numerous pieces, documents, models and audiovisual. The Museum also has rooms dedicated to archeology, history and local customs that, in a fun and educational way, give this space with the most innovative museum techniques. The Museum of the Battle of Bailen has a large temporary exhibition room available on request, as well as a fully equipped conference room.
