A Ginjinha (also called Ginjinha Espinheira) opened in 1840, and has maintained a group of faithful, regular customers ever since. The store is ornamented with painted windows and several popular quatrains, among which there are constant reminders of the virtues of 'ginjinha'. The house also provides other drinks, like the also popular 'bagaço', and tobacco. The shop sells at the balcony, and because the place has limited space, it isn't unusual to see a crowd of clients around the entrance, giving the street an inviting atmosphere of meeting and having a good time while having a drink.
