Antrodoco Turismo

Antrodoco is a small hamlet close to the Salaria 98 km from Rome, 22 Km from Rieti and 90 Km from Ascoli Piceno, from which the SS state. 17 for L'Aquila, which is 32 Km. The commune belongs to the mountain community of the Velino and, as the name suggests, (originally from the Intercoyos, or "among the mountains"), is surrounded by three mountain ranges. Antrodoco, is one of the towns that proclaims Center of Italy, competing with its capital Rieti and Urbino (Center of the World); A small obelisk surmounted by a metal ball, next to the church of Santa Maria Extra Moenia, marks the center of the Peninsula. At the entrance to the town a reminiscent plaque reminds the town as a scenario of the first battle of the Italian Risorgimento held in 1821.
