The pretty market town of Helmsley is only four miles away.

There is a variety of attractions in the area including Duncombe Park (with its new International Centre for Birds of Prey), Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, Byland Abbey, Helmsley Castle and Ampleforth College and Abbey.

There are many stunning walks and bicycle rides around Ampleforth, several without even getting in your car!

The historic city of York is only 20 miles away, and buses run every day from the village.
