Today, the museum complex consists of four buildings, which house: museum collection, art exhibition hall, historic exhibition hall and administration. The beginning of the museum is to be found in 1947, when a decision was taken to create it. The original wealth of the museum is the collection of original works by the artist, picked up by Rozenthal's contemporary, Marta Vē. One of the complex buildings is Rozentāls's designed residential building with a workshop, the construction work of which was started in 1899. The outstanding Saldus district has stayed here for only two years after the completion of the construction (1901/02), linking its further activities with Riga. J. Rosenthal's Saldus Museum of History and Art is currently the only place in Latvia where the original works of the early years of the masterpiece of Latvian painting masterpiece are to be seen. The few but lovely families and personal things give insight into the artist's everyday life. At the moment, the works of Latvian old masters and contemporary artists from the collection of Gunta Priedaika's and Saldum's recipes by the host have appeared in J. Rozentals House.
