Kroppedal Museum

Kroppedal Museum is a state-renowned musuem that makes you wiser on both archeology, recent cultural history and Danish astronomy history. The museum has a particular focus on communicating Vestegnens historie - both in ancient times and in recent times. Among other things, the museum collects and records archaeological material from all municipalities on Copenhagen Vestegn, as well as from Lyngby-Taarbæk, Tårnby and Dragør municipality. The museum's previous exhibitions have especially been about the rich iron and bronze age in the West Bank.

But Kroppedal Museum also communicates how the West region has developed culturally, politically, architecturally, industrially and socially - especially in the post-industrial era. Therefore, you will also find Kroppedal Museum at Bredekærgård in Ishøj, at Blaakildegaard in Taastrup, at Local History Collection in Albertslund and in the municipality of Herlev Municipality. At the museum you can experience the exhibition '99xVSTGN - 15,000 years of Denmark history in the west region' from 2017-2018.

Kroppedal Museum also carries out the dissemination of Danish astronomy history, its objects and archives from the mid 16th century onwards. The museum's permanent astronomy exhibition is based mainly on the scientist Ole Rømer's businesses, whose land observatory was located in the forest a few hundred meters from where the mussel is located today.

The museum offers ongoing dissemination activities, lectures, activities for children, star evenings, guided tours, pop exhibitions and other related to the museum's research and collection.

From 2017, Kroppedal Museum works with a special focus on the Vikings and their conditions in the West Bank 1000 years ago. Together with the Viking country town in Albertslund, the museum establishes and builds Denmark's longest vikinge road and bridge. The new vikinge attraction is complemented by a whole new vikinge exhibition at Kroppedal Museum, as well as a number of digital dissemination experiences focusing on natural and cultural history.
