The Idrija City Museum is exceptional in the Slovenian territory, since we operate with so many objects of cultural heritage as no other Slovenian museum. The museum is based in Gewerkenegg Castle in Idrija, built in the first quarter of the 16th century. We pay close attention to the rich heritage of the Idrija mercury mine and its special features, such as Idrija lace and Cerklje laufarji. We are also famous for two exceptional World War II monuments: Partisan Hospital Franja pri Cerknem and Partisan Printing House Slovenia in Vojsko.
