Pretty 11-room Relais & Châteaux Hotel Kendov dvorec is in a 14th-century manor house on a tranquil hillside overlooking a steep valley and river, near the lovely 860-year-old village of Spodnja Idrija. Individually decorated rooms and suite, named for members of the manor’s founding family, contain 19th-century antiques, a mix of cozy chairs and sofas, paintings, ornate carved beds, oak floors and ample windows. Handmade Idrija lace decorates tablecloths, curtains and bed linen. Hotel Kendov dvorec has a handsome dining room with beamed ceiling that features delicious local fare, as well as a good selection of fine regional wines.
